Installing software Deskjet 4155 Windows 11

I have a newer Deskjet Plus 4155 that was previously installed on a Windows 7 machine.  Now I have moved it to a brand new Dell Windows 11 machine.  Just by plugging it in, not installing anything, the printer works fine for printing.  I wanted to install HP's software so I can get the scanning software that I previously had on Windows 7.  However the installation software seems messed up.  After several minutes it does locate the printer, but then during installation, it says to plug in the USB cord, which is already plugged in, then refuses to continue.  I have gotten the scanning function to work using Windows Scan, but I would prefer to use the HP utility if I can get it installed.  Any suggestions?

Welcome to the HP User Community.

Before you install the printer software, disconnect the USB cable between the printer and the computer.

Connect the cable when instructed to do so - near the end of the installation process.

I know I had tried that several times, but I went through it again, and this time everything worked.
