Is it possible to set default page size to A4 instead of A3 in the printer model HPC7A792? I have installed the HP Smart software, but I could not find any setting for selecting default page size as A4. The software automatically reverts page size back to A3 for A4 every time I change other settings. This is frustrating. Kindly provide guideline to fix this issue.

Hi @AQAWDF901,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To set the default page size to A4 on your HPC7A792 printer and prevent it from reverting to A3, follow these steps.
Check Printer Settings in Control Panel (Windows):
- Open the Control Panel on your computer.
- Navigate to Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on your HPC7A792 printer and select Printer properties.
- Go to the Advanced tab and click on Printing Defaults.
- Set the Paper Size to A4 and apply the changes.
Set Default Preferences in HP Smart Software:
- Open the HP Smart software.
- Go to Printer Settings or Print & Scan (the exact name may vary).
- Look for Preferences or Print Preferences.
- Set the default paper size to A4 here.
Change Settings in the Print Driver:
- Open a document and go to the print dialog (usually File > Print).
- Select your HPC7A792 printer.
- Click on Printer Properties or Preferences.
- Set the paper size to A4 and ensure to save the settings as default, if there is an option for that.
Check the Printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS):
- Open a web browser and enter the printer’s IP address to access its Embedded Web Server (EWS).
- Log in if necessary.
- Navigate to the Settings or Configuration section.
- Set the default paper size to A4.
Update Printer Firmware and Software:
- Ensure that your printer firmware and the HP Smart software are up to date. Sometimes, issues like this are resolved in updates.
- You can check for firmware updates through the HP Smart app or the printer’s EWS.
Check for Conflicting Settings:
- Sometimes, settings in the document or application you are printing from can override printer defaults.
- Ensure that the document settings (in Word, PDF viewer, etc.) are also set to A4.
Save Settings:
- Ensure that any changes you make are saved before exiting the settings menu.
- Sometimes, a “Save as default” or similar option must be explicitly selected to retain changes.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hello, I have followed your instructions and would like you to review these screenshots. I created an A4 size document in Microsoft Word and chose A4 size paper in the printer's properties settings. However, as shown in the print preview, the bottom part of the page border is being cut off. This issue has occurred with several documents I have printed. Is this printer capable of printing on A4 size paper?
