I've recently moved back to the United States from Germany where I bought my dual voltage HP ENVY Photo 6232 printer. I purchased the indicated ink cartridges for my printer and the error I keep getting is "The indicated cartridges are not intended for use in this printer." The cartridges are the exact ones that HP instructed me to buy and it's still not working. Is it possible that my printer is region locked and if it is, can I get it fixed?

Hi @AP215,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Yes, your HP ENVY Photo 6232 printer is likely region-locked, which is why it's rejecting the ink cartridges even though they are the correct model for your printer.
HP printers are often configured to accept cartridges only from the region where they were originally sold. Since you bought your printer in Germany, it expects European-region cartridges, and cartridges sold in the United States (even if they are the same model number) may not be recognized.
We can help with the regional reset. Before you proceed, please make sure to check if you have a full Germany-region cartridge available. If you do, please use it first, as once the regional reset is performed, cartridges from the previous region will no longer be compatible and can’t be used again.
Let me know once you're ready,
To perform a printer region reset, you need to meet the following conditions:
1. The printer should be connected using a printer USB cable to the computer.
2. You need to have the printer's full-featured software installed on your computer.
3. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region/country from where the printer was purchased originally or the new region/country to which you want to reset it.
4. Make sure the HP Smart App is installed too.
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hi @AP215,
Thank you for getting back,
I request you to please get back to me with the following information, so that I can help you change the region settings on the printer.
Do you still have the ink cartridges for both regions
Do you have a printer USB cable?
Which OS is on the PC? Is it Windows or Mac?
Do you have the printer's full feature software and drivers installed on your PC?
Hope this helps!
Keep me posted
