OK - you are posting now -- that is, you have posted a question / comment in the Community.

In general,

Start at the Community Home, select a Board (category) in Browse the Community, and Start a Conversation

The more information you provide, the more likely you are to receive a (usable) answer.

Reminder to those reading

"Tagging" onto the end of someone else's thread (conversation) is less likely to receive an answer.

and

The more information you provide, the more likely you will receive a usable response.

For example --

Thanks for your reply, but the problem continues. I can REPLY to an existing post, but - apparently - not post a NEW TOPIC.

This is what I tried again just now:

a) Went to  "Product Discussions - Dsktops Hardware and Upgrade Questions - Start a conversation"  - in fact, my previous attempts were 'autosaved' so could just reload (the text of my Topic is at the bottom of this Reply - should anyone have an answer...)

On trying to post, all I get is:

As so many people seem to be reporting this problem, I think it needs investigatin. I note that this Forum is marked as being powered by 'Khoros'.

Anyways, the question I am attempting to post:

Hi - in UK and just bought: HP Pro Mini 400 G9 i714700T 16GB/1TB PC (937Y4EA#ABU)

It appears that, for this line, HP have moved totally over to SSDs - which is fine, but my question is how do I upgrade internal storage.

Reason I ask is that:

- I can't see how to install a 'mechanical' SATA 2.5" drive (no caddy, no SATA connector on board by the looks of it)

- the one 1 M.2 2280 slot for storage already has the 1TB module in it

- the 1 M.2 2230 slot has the WLAN module in it...

I'm used to HP kit having some space for upgrades (OK, I know this is a 'mini' box but have been able to upgrade others) - so am a bit mystified about how to expand storage - given 1TB clearly not enough...

Assuming I definitely can't pop in a SATA 2.5", am I right in thinking my options are limited to:

- getting rid of the 1TB M.2 2280 SDD module and buying a larger one? (bit of a waste)

- using external storage and the SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 20Gbps to connect to it (would have preferred the neater internal SATA solution really)

- using external NAS, by buying and installing a Flex port that supports a fast NIC, e.e. 2.5gb or higher?

Thanks in advance - would have been good if either HP had included another M.2 2280 slot, or else

OK - Understood.

I cannot help -- I do not work for HP --

I do not have access to your private information.

(That is normal.)

I can -- and will - submit a request that someone (in HP) take a look.

Hi - Thanks, appreciated.

Ironically, when I pressed the YES ths reply was Helpful button, I got this:

Jayjay2025_0-1736114785449.png

...so clearly something is amiss with the site, if only for maybe new users, or certain browsers (I'm on Firefox).

The status error message when you click helpful is an ongoing issue and many users, even seasoned experts see this issue.  HP support for Firefox is sketchy at best.  I go to some HP sites that simply will not cooperate, in particular support.hp.com which usually errors out on me.  i would not be surprised if there were no internal expansion slots on a mini desktop.  I think HP figures most people planning on upgrades will buy a tower unit. Even in laptops, my older Z book has at least 3 drive slots and a couple of ram slots and my latest one has only a single slot for an NVME drive. You will likely have to consider an external option for upgrading.

If you find the information provided useful or solves your problems, help other users find the solution easier by marking my post as an accepted solution. Clicking "yes" on "was this reply helpful" also increases the chances that this solution will help others.

Other topics about the very same problem:

Also quite awkward that threads are getting "locked" after only a few weeks so that you can't respond there anymore.

I had the same problem, but after replying to two other posts, somehow it started working.

This seems to did the trick for me as well. While trying the suggestion last week it didn't worked (and i got the same message) but today (before doing this post here and with no additional post in between) it magically started to work.

Either it was fixed in the meantime in the forum software or there is some "grace period" or similar which needs to be counted to zero before posting seems to work.

The error message when clicking on "Yes" or "No" to state if a posting was helpful seems to be gone as well.
