My new LaserJet Pro M454dw keeps waking from Sleep Mode every few minutes for no reason. This is very wasteful and annoying. Two other people have posted this question. Does anyone read these questions? Does anyone have a solution?

If you are connecting the printer with a network cable or with wireless, then likely some program or service on your computer or network is pinging the printer and causing it to wake up. Depending on how often you print, a solution is to set the wake from sleep settings to ignore networks. This will mean that you will have to touch the control panel to wake the printer up. It is one solution I can present.
Most of the people on here answering questions are volunteering their time and most do not even work for HP so there can be times where there are few to no people answering questions and sometimes a question can get buried under a bunch of others. We do our best.

I called tech support and they said it is due to a wired connection to the printer sending a "ping" to see if the connection is alive.
This was easy to test. I disconnected all wires from the printer. I also turned off the WiFi connection on the printer.
Guess what? It still keeps waking up at random every few minutes.

I have tagged the moderator and asked them to escalate this.

Thank you for tagging my question to escalate it. So far, no reply.
You wrote "Depending on how often you print, a solution is to set the wake from sleep settings to ignore networks."
I do not see such a setting in the menu for my M454dw printer. Where is that setting, please?

I am not in front of an M454 but found this in the user guide, but seems counter intuitive.

@repairatrooper I am sorry, but I am not understanding how that would help at all. That would just PREVENT it from going to sleep. I want to KEEP it asleep. That seems to be the opposite of what you were suggesting. That option to ignore the network to wake from sleep does not seem to be an option.
What happened to the escalation, please?

That is what I meant by contradictory.
To read this, "do not disable appears to shut down the printer. Whether it will ignore the network, I do not know as I do not have one to test with.
As far as the escalation, I can request it and that is about all the sway I have on that. I do not work for HP, I only volunteer here.
Have you created a case with HP support at all or called them?

@Repairatrooper thank you for continuing to try to help. I checked my settings and "Do not disable" was already selected.
The M454dw keeps waking up at random. Even though the wired connections are unplugged and the wireless connection is turned off.
Yes, I had called tech support, but they gave me incorrect information. They claimed if I pulled these connections the problem would be "solved". Even though it is obviously not a solution! I just wanted to test whether they were correct that these signals were waking it up. It seems that it is waking up at random totally on its own.
Yes, I would very much appreciate if you could request to escalate this to someone at HP who can determine the source of the bug. Perhaps they need to change something in the firmware. Thank you!
