Hi @Tlwarmsage,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If you're locked out of your HP Color LaserJet Pro 3201dw printer — especially from the embedded web server (EWS) or admin panel — here's a step-by-step guide to regain access, including how to reset the printer if needed:

Solution 1: Try the Default Login

If you're locked out of the printer’s web interface:

  1. Find the IP address of the printer:
    • On the printer control panel: Go to Settings > Network > Wi-Fi Settings or Reports > Network Summary.
    • You can also print a Network Configuration Page from the menu.
  2. Open a browser and enter the IP (e.g., http://192.168.1.45)
  3. Try the default credentials:
    • Username: admin
    • Password: (leave blank) or try admin

If these don’t work, continue to the next step.

Solution 2: Factory Reset (Hard Reset)

⚠️ A factory reset will erase all settings, including Wi-Fi, password, and admin restrictions.

To reset the HP Color LaserJet Pro 3201dw:

  1. Power off the printer.
  2. Press and hold the back button (↩) or cancel (X) button (depends on model).
  3. While holding the button, power the printer back on.
  4. Keep holding until you see a message like “Permanent Storage Init” or “Resetting”.
  5. Release the button and let the printer restart.

If this doesn’t work, there may be a hidden Service Menu depending on the firmware version. I can guide you through that if needed.

Solution 3: Reset via HP Smart App (if partially accessible)

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your phone or PC.
  2. If you can see the printer listed, go to Settings > Advanced Settings (opens the Embedded Web Server).
  3. Navigate to Settings > Restore Defaults or Security > Admin Settings > Reset Password.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
