hp deskjet 1015

Since Mac OS Big Sur update my printer has stopped working. After much research I know that HP has yet to update drivers for bigsur. The message I'm getting is that the the computer is trying to connect to the device. Through a message board thread I had found a driver that I had hoped would fix the issue. After installing and in the restart process the first print job printed (during restart). It will only print one job not all, and will only work on the restart. Any ideas how to fix this. Its clearly a software issue

@dkenny

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are looking for a printer driver for Mac OS 11.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

There are no drivers for Mac OS 11 for your printer. However, Gutenprint (formerly called Gimp-Print) provides open-source basic print drivers for many printers that would otherwise not be supported in Mac OS. To see if your printer is supported, go to Gutenprint drivers for more information.

NOTE: Gutenprint drivers are not supported by HP or Apple.

I hope that answers your question and you have a great day!

There seems to be no driver in Gutenprint's library for the Deskjet 1050 series printers and there is an absence of drivers for other models as well.  So far, HP has not been very helpful nor Apple.  I have found that VueScan supports scan functionality of the Deskjet 1055, but doesn't provide printer functions.  Linux and Windows still support it.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately Gutenprint has no drivers for my printer. Whats the next step?

Thanks for your reply. Looks like no solution right now.

There is nothing much we can do right now. However, you can use the printer with a Windows computer.

Thanks!

Tried to get bootcamp working and it's crashing the computer. I dont own a pc so I guess its fingers crossed for a future driver

I've heard that BootCamp is no longer supported (because of the shift to a non-Intel processor).  In any event, there are currently no Big Sur drivers for HP printers except those supporting AirPrint.  VueScan works fine for scanning, but has no printing ability.  Gutenprint doesn't support my printer (Deskjet 1055) nor yours.  Windows and Linux work and it should be straightforward to create a printer server using something like a Raspberry Pi that looks like an AirPrint device to the Mac and copies the data to a printer.  Unfortunately, I don't have the expertise for this.

Is this a joke, your telling me HP has no driver(s) to support these printers in the newest OS.

What are you telling me to dump the Mac and buy a Windows machine?  Or dump the HP printer and find another printer company that does support their devices?

I own a raspberry pi. So I will give it a shot.
