Smart Tank 516 printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I replace my old HP printer that supported automatic duplex with  Smart Tank 516 printer supports only manual duplex. The print popup  option has duplex (long or short side). I select long side duplex but the printer prints the entire document and is not doing manual duplex. It is doing something since every other page is printed upside down. I tried uninstalling the HP Smart app and reinstalling but no change. According to the documentation there should be something in the Print dialog about manual duplex but I dont see anything in all the places the documentation suggests it may be. One post suggested that perhaps driver issues. I did uninstall the the driver for the old printer. Still no success.

Welcome to the HP support community.

Update the printer firmware

Here are the steps:- Click here

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to check connectivity

Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  1. Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.

  2. Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.

    • If your printer is not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.

    • If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  3. If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.

  4. If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.

  5. Try to print.

I hope that helps.

In the end I ran the Print Scan Doctor. It said that the driver was slightly different. I still needed in Windows to remove the print and add the one The Print Scan Doctor gave me. Works!
