Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just installed the printer on my new laptop with Windows 10. I tried printing a spreadsheet file that I've had for years. The printed copy had a large left border and almost no right border. It looked like it shifted the spreadsheet to the right. The preview showed the file correctly. I got the same result with A Word and PDF doc. I have re-aligned, rebooted, etc., but nothing changed.

@westcoastme, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

To assist you better, are you using the HP Smart app to print?

If yes, try printing from native apps like MS Word or Adobe Reader for PDFs and check if the issue persists.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your computer.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Align the cartridges from the printer display (skip if already done)

  1. Load Letter or A4 unused plain white paper into the input tray.
  2. From the Home screen, touch  Setup.
  3. Touch  Tools, touch  Align Printer and then follow the on-screen instructions.

Install the printer using the TCP/IP port:

Check for any pending Windows updates first.

  1. On the PC, go to Control panel > Devices and printers > Remove the existing printer entry > click on Add a printer(at the top)
  2. Under 'Choose a device or printer', click on 'The printer I want isn't listed'.
  3. Select 'Add a printer using a TCP/IP address'
  4. Find the IP address of the printer by tapping on the wireless/ethernet icon on the printer screen
  5. Type in the 'IP address in Hostname or IP address' box, click next
  6. Proceed to the next steps by following the on-screen instructions.

Try printing.

I did all that before posting. I have discovered now that ALL my doc types print the same way so I suspect this is a Windows 10 issue, not a printer issue. I have 3 printers/3 different brands connected and all of them do the same thing. VERY frustrating.

@westcoastme

If all the printers have the same issue, I believe you should contact Microsoft support for assistance.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
