Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Envy printer series 5000 PCL-3 kept prompting me to print an alignment page when no  alingnment was necessary. To remedy this I priceeded to delete my printer from "devices" on my control panel and then press Windows key +R and entering printui.exe /s . I selected "drivers tap" , selected HP Envy series 5000 PCL-3 from the list and selected "remove" and "OK". The prompt said that it could not remove the driver because it was "in use". I unplugged the USB and power cord before doing this. How to proceed?

Hi @Rosemn,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing difficulty removing the printer driver for your HP Envy series 5000 PCL-3 printer on your Windows 10 computer, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue.

  • Disconnect the printer: Ensure that the printer is disconnected from your computer before proceeding with the driver removal.
  • Uninstall the printer software: Go to the "Control Panel" on your computer and select "Programs" or "Programs and Features." Look for the HP printer software in the list of installed programs and select it. Choose the option to uninstall or remove the software. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation process.
  • Remove the printer driver: Press the Windows key + X on your keyboard and select "Device Manager" from the menu that appears. In the Device Manager window, expand the "Print queues" or "Printers" category. Right-click on your HP Envy series 5000 printer driver and select "Uninstall device" or "Remove device." Follow any prompts that appear to complete the driver removal.
  • Delete residual printer files: Open the File Explorer on your computer and navigate to the following location: C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64 (for 64-bit Windows) or C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\W32x86 (for 32-bit Windows). Delete any folders related to your HP printer driver.
  • Restart your computer: After completing the above steps, restart your computer to ensure that any remaining printer driver components are cleared from the system.

Upon restarting, the HP Envy series 5000 PCL-3 printer driver should be removed from your Windows 10 computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
