HP Pavillion G7-2269wm
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I need a Driver for the Synaptics Touchpad in my HP Pavillion G7-2269wm Laptop, running Win 7 Ultimate, Not Win 8 or 8.1 which was originally installed, and which are the only OS's I can find this Driver for.
...
Thankfully, you guys had a page which I got most of the Other Drivers for here...

or

[BTW, the Unknown device was a hard drive protection, and I forget if there was a second for sure now]
...
But I think I tried FOUR Drivers for the Video Card, so I could change brightness, and I think this was the one that finally worked...

And I found another page with a link to a driver for THIS problem, BUT, that link no longer works!
Here is that page...

Hi hannelius,

Welcome to the HP Community! I see that you are having some problems with your TouchPad. I will be happy to help you with that. There is only the one TouchPad driver and that is the Synaptics TouchPad Driver. The first thing you can try is going to your Device Manager and under Mice and other pointing devices right click on Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad then select Uninstall. Make sure you have a mouse that you can connect then reinstall the driver I linked above.

This HP document Using and Troubleshooting the TouchPad which will show you how to adjust the sensitivity and disable gestures.  This should help with the sensitivity issue you are experiencing."
...

NOW, THE ONLY THING LEFT TO FIX, IS I CANT TURN OFF THE TOUCH PAD! AND IT MESSES ME UP CONSTANTLY!
Others have disabled it, uninstalled it. I dont see a touchpad in the Drivers (Device Manager), only 'PS/2 Compatible Mouse'.
The Synanaptics Touchpad is apparently PS/2 btw.

I'm considering just putting something on top of the touchpad so my hands wont CONSTANTLY Screw up what I'm typing!

...EDIT...I'm trying the Driver for Windows 8, sp61877.exe.  After a restart I'll come back and update what happened...
IT WORKED! The Touchpad is working better, it DOES turn on and off when I double tap the indent at the top left of the touch pad, and its more sensitive!
I notice, in the Device Manager it DID say "Synaptics PS/2 Port Mouse" under "Mice and other pointing devices", but now it says "Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad" instead.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Let's perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant:

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
    And, also update
BIOS: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank you Guys, but notice at the end of my original posts, after 'EDIT'...I DID fix the problem. It is working.
I just wasnt sure if that driver would work for WIn7 Ultimate (what I have now), when it was for Win.8/8.1 (which was on this computer originally).
SO, problem is fixed, but thanks.
