I am reaching out regarding my HP LaserJet P1005 printer, which I am unable to use with my Mac running macOS 15.3. I have attempted to download and install the available drivers, including the "HP 5.1.1 Printer Software Update" and other legacy drivers, but they either fail to install or are marked as incompatible with my operating system.I have tried alternative troubleshooting steps, such as resetting the printing system, using the HP Smart App, and searching for community-supported solutions, but none have resolved the issue. Could you please guide me on getting my HP LaserJet P1005 to work with macOS 15.3? If there are updated drivers, firmware updates, or alternative methods (e.g., generic drivers or third-party solutions) that you recommend, I would greatly appreciate your assistance.

Not only do I have the same question: I bought my HP LaserJet MFP M234sdw 6 months ago at Best Buy !!!! Please provide a driver so that we can use this again. FYI my „previous” HP laser-jet was running like a little speed train - nothing, really nothing wrong, other than HP would not provide a driver - So I had to ditch a perfectly good printer for this one, and now this… Nah, can’t deal with that HP. Anticipating a positive reply and an easy fix. Thanks

@SS289, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP LaserJet P1005 with macOS 15.3!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand how frustrating it can be when your printer isn’t working with your updated macOS version. Unfortunately, HP has not released official drivers for the HP LaserJet P1005 that support macOS 15.3. However, there are alternative methods you can try:
Use Apple's Built-in Drivers – macOS often includes generic drivers for older printers. Try adding the printer manually:
- Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners
- Click Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax...
- Select your HP LaserJet P1005 and see if macOS provides a built-in driver.
Check for Virtual Machine or Compatibility Solutions – Some users have success running an older macOS version in a virtual machine or using an older Mac for printing.
Let me know if you need further assistance!
Take care, and have an amazing day!

@ScreenName1945, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP LaserJet MFP M234sdw!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Since your HP LaserJet MFP M234sdw is a relatively new model, I’d like to help troubleshoot and find a solution so you can get back to printing.
Here are a few steps to try:
Check HP Easy Start – Try downloading HP Easy Start (HP Support) to detect and install the correct driver automatically.
Use AirPrint – macOS supports AirPrint, which allows printing without a driver:
- Remove the printer from System Settings > Printers & Scanners
- Click Add Printer and select your printer, ensuring AirPrint is chosen as the driver.
Manually Install HP Smart – If you haven't already, install the HP Smart App from the Mac App Store to see if it detects and configures your printer.
Firmware Update – Check if there’s a firmware update available for your printer on HP’s support site. Sometimes, updating the printer itself resolves compatibility issues.
If you're still facing issues, let me know, and I’ll do my best to assist you further!
Take care, and have an amazing day!

The issue is the available driver, that doesn't allow scanner via AirPrint. The system preferences don't show the printer as "bonjour multifunction" as it used to, and still does for some reason if the driver was installer before MacOS 15.3 update... Go figure. If HP doesn't plan on releasing and updated installer / driver, maybe say so ? We'll have a look at what Brother proposes...

@SS289, Thank you for your response!
We understand that printer compatibility is essential for workflow efficiency. While we can’t guarantee an official driver release for older models, we recommend checking HP support page periodically for updates. If an updated driver becomes available, it will be posted there.
If you have any further questions or need assistance with alternative setups, feel free to ask! We're here to help.

The HP Sequoia 15 driver does not work. Use the HP Smart App in the Apple Store and it will work for both printing and scanning. I had to select my printer in the wifi sittings. To scan select the purple square that says printer scan in the app.

Thanx for your feedback. Selecting the printer in the wifi settings ? Not sure I follow...
The idea is to use the system to print and scan, nt go through the HP Smart app, just like I used to do when the driver was installing properly... 🙂
As of now, in the "Printer" settings, I still only see a "Bonjour" printer, not a "Bonjour multifunction"...
Thanx for your help,

There are 3 ways for your new Mac to find the printer in the HP SMART APP in the Apple Store, Ethernet, Wifi, and Bluetooth. I have ethernet hooked up to my Dell computer so I had to unhook the cable temporarily and let my new M4 Mac find my printer by WIFI, it found it and installed the drivers on the system and can now print and scan in any program.

I doesn't work for me. I did just as you said, and the only thing appearing in system preferences > printers > Add printer is the "bonjour" version, that doesn't allow scanning via the printing queue button.
When working properly, I get "Bonjour Multifunction".
The other strange thing is that each time I launch HP easy Strart, it finds the printer, on the network, but behaves as if I didn't insole the softwares.
Not sure what I can do from there. It's probably something simple but....
