My printer (HP OfficeJet Pro 8210) ran out of the ink it originally came with, and I bought some more from a 3rd party brand on Amazon that said it was compatible with this model. I'd heard HP designs their printers to only work with HP ink, but all the Amazon reviews were really good for this product so I bought it anyways. Now that I have loaded the cartridges, I get the following error message as soon as I turn on the printer:

"There is a problem with the supply system. Try replacing the affected cartridge with a different, non-empty cartridge."

Do I just need to bite the bullet and buy the expensive HP brand ink? Or has anyone else had success getting off-brand ink to work on their HP printer?

Hi @jasusu,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I'd like to help!

You may refill your cartridges or use remanufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems. HP will not guarantee the functionality of those ink cartridges.

There are many cartridges in the market which is refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why it's not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
