Hi @Scobi1

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9012e is automatically printing pages filled with random characters, this issue could be due to a communication problem between the printer and your computer, incorrect printer settings, or outdated drivers.

Here are some steps you can take to address the problem:

Restart and Reset Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Check Connection:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your network or computer, whether through USB or Wi-Fi.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model. Ensure you have the most recent version compatible with your operating system.

Verify Printer Settings:

  • Make sure that your printer is set as the default printer.
  • Check printer settings to ensure they’re configured correctly. Sometimes a misconfigured print job can cause this issue.

Cancel Print Jobs:

  • Access your printer’s queue on your computer. Cancel any pending print jobs.
  • Restart your computer to clear any print data that might be causing the issue.

Run a Printer Test:

  • Print a test page from the printer’s control panel. If the test page prints correctly, the issue is likely related to the computer or driver.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Occasionally, third-party printing applications or outdated software can cause printing errors. Make sure all related software is updated.

Reinstall Printer:

  • If the above steps don’t solve the problem, consider removing the printer from your computer’s devices and re-adding it.
