I have a Dell laptop with Windows 11 installed. I bought a new HP Officejet 8020, was able to connect it via USB with HP Smart, and everything worked fine (print, scan, etc). After restarting the computer, it never worked again. I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting the USB, powering on and off the Officejet, unplugging and replugging, restarting computer etc. I downloaded and installed the offline HP EasyStart software package and that didn't work either. The odd thing is I can use the Officejet as a printer via Windows - print test page, print from apps like Acrobat, etc. But the HP Smart doesn't recognize it, the EasyStart Officejet software says it's not connected, etc. This prevents me from using the scanner. Any idea what is wrong or how to fix?

Hi,
Let's run Windows Update, be sure to install the optional quality updates and check if that may help then:

Please let me know how it goes,

Hi, sorry for the delay responding. I was able to install most of the optional updates. One, an HP Printer updated dated 2017, would not install. After that, the scanner still was not detected. I tried uninstalling everything and doing a fresh install over USB and now nothing is detected. Replacing the cord, turning on and off, etc... all doesn't work. What do you suggest next?

Thanks for clarifying @vichu2 .
Could you please let me know the exact OS Build number?
- You can press Windows + R, type winver in Run dialog, and press Enter.
- In the pop-up About Windows screen, you can see your Windows 11 version and build number.
