OfficeJet Pro 8740
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have been trying to print a file from my computer to my 2 OfficeJet Pro 8740s (the first is connected by an ethernet cable to my router & the 2nd one is working on the wifi in the office off of the same router).  When I send the file to print it doesn't show up in the printer's Que at all.  I have tried both printers & cannot get it to work (tried the troubleshooter & it says there is nothing wrong).  The computer & printers have been rebooted & are still having that same problem...but I can get a test page to print from that computer to both of the printers.  When I try to print the same file from another computer in the office to both of those printers, it works fine.  Please help!

@MAGrnhses19 Welcome to HP Community!

Let's start with running the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

Use this link for details on using the HP Print and Scan doctor: click here

If the issue persists, let's do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.)  Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here

Keep me posted, as I (Or a trusted colleague) shall follow-up on this case to ensure the concern has been addressed,

And your device is up and running again, only in case you don't get back to us, first!

That said, If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That'll help us, and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

After posting my question, I did a full reinstall of the software on that computer, but that did nothing.  Getting completely frustrated, I started looking at all of the other issues people had been having around the same time as I had & most of the issues were with the cannot print  error code 0X800705b4.  I looked to see if my computer had a windows update around the same time & lo and behold it had.  I tried the newest update on the microsoft website, but that didn't work.  What did work was taking off that update (as it did with everyone else that was having that problem).

PS...although I love the print & scan doctor, it did nothing in this case.
