I am trying to connect my Hp1510 printer to the PC via ethernet cable from modem to the PC and the USB cable from the printer to the PC. Message states that the printer is correctly formatted but no internet connection to allow me to print using the HP 1510 printer. WHY? I have previously used an identical printer with the same PC as I am using now without any problem with connecting to the internet, etc.

Hi @HOCKEY35,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're having trouble with your HP DeskJet 1510 printer's connectivity, especially regarding internet access. Since you've mentioned using both an Ethernet cable from your modem to the PC and a USB cable from the printer to the PC, let's clarify and resolve this situation. The HP DeskJet 1510 is primarily designed for USB connectivity and does not support network printing directly via Ethernet. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve your issue:
1. Verify Printer Connectivity
Check Printer Connections:
- USB Cable: Ensure the USB cable is securely connected between the printer and the PC.
- Ethernet Cable: This printer does not support Ethernet connectivity directly. If you're using an Ethernet cable, it's not needed for this model.
Reconnect USB Cable:
- Unplug the USB cable from both the printer and the PC.
- Reconnect the USB cable firmly into both the printer and the PC.
2. Install or Update Printer Drivers
Download Drivers:
- Go to the HP Support website and search for the HP DeskJet 1510 drivers.
Install or Update Drivers:
- Download the latest driver for your operating system.
- Install the driver by following the on-screen instructions.
- Restart your PC if required.
3. Set Up Printer as Default
Open Printer Settings:
- On Windows 11, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
Select Printer:
- Find your HP DeskJet 1510 in the list of printers.
- Click on it and select Manage.
- Click Set as default to make sure it is the default printer.
4. Troubleshoot Printer Connectivity
Check Printer Status:
- Ensure the printer is turned on and in a ready state. There should be no error messages on the printer’s display.
Run Windows Troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Select Printer and click Run the troubleshooter.
- Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix any issues.
5. Verify Network Printer Settings
Even though the DeskJet 1510 does not support Ethernet, if you have another printer model with network capabilities:
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
