I printed a page using Avery "business card" paper. Switched the setting to "Thick Paper." Replaced with regular plain paper. Reset settings to "plain paper." Tried to print and received warning to "Load Plain Paper." I have. Print job stops. Same warning: "Load Plain Paper."

Ideas?

Welcome to the HP Community --

A couple and must be based on unknown printer model...

Dragon Opinion

Most consumer grade printers will struggle with business cards -- the top tier OfficeJet Pro models might print on Business cards - at least the single sided cards and possibly the double sided, though card paper this heavy is not supported - even a "thick paper" setting in printer (EWS) and in printer app might not work.

Double sided cards also might balk when the second side is required -- If the card paper is light enough (for example, closer to single side sheet weight) AND if the sheet of paper can stand that second pass through the printer -- maybe..

The general rule is to make sure the settings in the printer (what the printer detects) is set the same or at least as close as possible in the print app / software settings.

I don't have a definition of "thick paper" at hand --

Brochure Matt / Glossy and Professional paper is 180 gsm

Index paper (HP calls this "HP Card") is 200 gsm

Photo paper varies but cannot be used in this context -- printers generally balk at using this setting unless you have actually loaded photo paper.
