My printer will not print. It's connected, and when I run the diagnostic, it shows a "port match issue" which it says it has now "fixed". I run a test page, and it works great, but when I try to print a document from my computer, nothing happens...the document does not show in the print queue.
I have re-booted both modem and printer 5 times. I have uninstalled and re-installed the printer, drivers, and software. I have checked the port on the printer, and I see that it does not match what is on my computer...so I have changed the port to a TCP/IP port (to match what is on my printer) but it always defaults back to a WSD port.
Five hours and counting on this. Please help?

Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I understand you are experiencing issues while printing the Word documents. Since the printer works fine while printing the PDF documents, I guess the issue is with the print settings or with the Word app.
To assist you better with this issue, I need to know whether the issue is specific to the Word documents or not. Can you print other documents from your PC? If unsure try printing from the internet or try printing from your email and let me know if that works.
Did you try opening the word as an administrator? Right-click on a word document, choose "Run as administrator" and then try to print the document.
If the issue is specific to the MS word package, then try these general steps to try and fix the issue:
1) Go to Control panel - Devices and printers - Right-click on OfficeJet 8730 and select "Printing preferences". Click on "Advanced" tab and make sure the "Advanced printing features" are enabled. Now try to print. If the issue persists, go to the next step.
2) Go to Control panel - Programs and features - Locate Microsoft office package - Right-click and select "Change" option. You will get an MS Office pop-up window. Select the "Repair" option and select "Continue". Follow the on-screen instructions to repair the office package. Once done try to print and check.
3) If the above steps did not solve the issue, then you may need to uninstall and reinstall the MS Office package. Check here for instructions: http://hp.care/2eJmVyl
Alternatively, If the issue persists you can try to do a clean install of the printer drivers, Here are the steps:
First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
Restart your computer.
Now click https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/COL71126/LJM129-M134_UWWL_4-1_UWWL_4_1_Full_WebP... to download and install the software.
Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
If the issue persists, the issue could be with the printer permissions. I would suggest giving administrator permissions as suggested below:
Press the "Windows logo key" + "r" to get “Run" - Type "spool" and press ok.
Right-click on "PRINTERS" - Select "Properties"
Select "Security" tab. You will find few entries like "Administrators" and "users", click on "Edit" and give "Full permission" to all the entries. Save / apply the settings.
Go to "Devices and printers", right-click on the new printer that you installed and select "Printer properties".
Select "Security" tab. You will find few entries like "Administrators" and "users", click on "Edit" and give "Full permission" to all the entries. Save / apply the settings.
Restart your computer and then try to print.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Eagerly waiting for your response!

Thank you so much, Jeet.
Yes, after changing the printer port, I was able to print emails and PDF documents.
I ran a repair of MS Word, and there were issues, so I uninstalled and re-installed. Everything seems to be working now!

Jeet, here I am one day later, and the whole problem has started again...I am unable to print from Word, although I can print PDF's and emails.
This morning, I printed a Word document no problem. I have not changed anything EXCEPT I later used my printer to COPY some documents. After I used the COPY function (from the screen on the printer) I was unable to print from Word. Now that I think of it, when I had this issue two days ago, it was also after I had used the COPY function on the printer.
I went back to your original suggestions (I have NOT reinstalled anything at this point) and I thought I would try your suggestion about going to "Printer Properties" and hitting the "Security" tab.
When I do this, I do not see the entries you suggest (like “administrators” or ‘users’ and there is no “Edit” option…all it says is
“you must have read permissions to view the property of this object” and then it says “click Advanced to continue”
When I click “advanced” I get a new screen with 3 tabs: Permissions, Auditing, and effective Access. At this point, I'm LOST.
Help?

Thank you for replying,
As I understand you are stuck in the middle and not sure how to proceed, don't worry we're here to help you.
Here are the steps to configure UAC settings:
Open User Account Control Settings by clicking the Start button and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type uac, and then click Change User Account Control settings.
-
To turn off UAC, move the slider to the Never notify position, and then click OK.
if you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. You will need to restart your computer for UAC to be turned off.
Once done, then follow the steps suggested in the previous post to give the permissions:
Keep me posted,

I turned off the UAC. Then I went to printer properties and clicked the “security” tab. Same as last time, I do not see the entries you suggest (like “administrators” or ‘users’ and there is no “Edit” option…all it says is
“you must have read permissions to view the property of this object” and then it says “click Advanced to continue”
When I click “advanced” I get a new screen with 3 tabs: Permissions, Auditing, and effective Access

Thanks so much; I appreciate you joining in to help. I did a complete re-install again last night (printer drivers and MS Office), and everything is working again, but I suspect this problem will recur, at which point I will contact HP as per your instructions.
Cheers, and thank you!
