@7_KevN, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thanks for reaching out about your HP OfficeJet 200 showing only an orange light and not powering on fully. Let's walk through some steps to help resolve this issue:
Check Power Source and Adapter
- Ensure the printer is connected directly to a working wall outlet (avoid surge protectors or extension cords).
- Use the original HP power adapter that came with the printer. Third-party adapters may not provide the correct voltage.
- Try a different wall outlet to rule out power supply issues.
Perform a Power Reset
- Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord directly to the wall outlet and then to the printer.
- Press the Power button and check if the printer powers on normally.
Battery Check (if using battery)
If you're using the optional battery:
- Remove the battery and try powering the printer with just the AC adapter.
- If the printer works without the battery, the battery may be faulty or discharged.
Inspect for Hardware Issues
- Check for any visible damage to the power port or adapter.
- If the orange light stays on and the printer doesn’t respond, it could indicate a hardware fault.
Update Firmware (if accessible)
If the printer powers on intermittently, try updating the firmware:
- Visit the HP support page and download the latest firmware under Software and Drivers.
If none of the above steps help, the printer may need servicing. In that case, please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
