I recently pulled an old HP Deskjet 1112 out of storage. Plugged the printer in, and everything looked fine. I removed the old cartridges (which were dried out), unplugged the printer, and it sat for a day until I could buy new cartridges. When I plugged the printer back in, the power light started flashing. It will not stop flashing even after following HPs trouble shooting instructions. I put the new cartridges in the printer, unplugged it, waited 30 seconds, plugged the printer back into the wall, but the power light continues to flash, and I cannot print a test page. Or any other page, for that matter. My computer recognizes the printer, which I can see from Settings. HP Smart app does not find the printer.
I'm not sure what steps to take to diagnose the problem. Can anyone help?
Since posting this request, I have replaced the new ink cartridges with the old, dried out ones. The printer power light does not flash when the old cartridges are installed. The printer will even attempt to print a page, (a test page) but of course, with no ink, the printed page is rather uninteresting.

Hi @Bruce7777777,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If the power light on your HP Deskjet 1112 printer continues to flash even after following the troubleshooting instructions and installing new cartridges, there might be a few things you can check or attempt to resolve the issue:
Troubleshooting Steps
- Check Cartridge Installation:
- Ensure that the new cartridges are installed correctly. Open the cartridge access door and make sure each cartridge is securely snapped into its slot.

- Update or Reinstall Drivers:
- Ensure that the printer drivers on your computer are up to date. HP DeskJet 1112 Printer Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support to download the latest drivers for your printer model and operating system.
- Reinstalling the printer drivers can sometimes resolve power issues caused by software glitches.
- Perform a Hard Reset:
- Sometimes, a hard reset can help realign the printer hardware with the software. Try turning off the printer, unplugging it, waiting a couple of minutes, and then plugging it back in.

If the flashing power light continues despite trying the above steps, there might be a hardware problem with the printer itself.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!

Thanks, Vikram
The things you suggested, I have tried, but the problem will not go away. The only thing I was unable to do was update/reinstall the drivers. I can only get so far before a window pops up saying that the printer is no longer supported by HP.
However, I managed to get in touch with an HP customer service representative, who is sending new cartridges for the printer. I have doubts this will solve the problem, but it's a good next step.
Thanks so much for your response. I'll continue to try to solve the problem once the new cartridges arrive.
