HP OfficeJet Pro 8124e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8124e. The device is connected to a power outlet that can be switched off. Can I prevent the printer from turning on when the power is restored?

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
You're asking whether it's possible to prevent your HP OfficeJet Pro 8124e All-in-One Printer from automatically powering on when power is restored after being disconnected.

Power Behavior on Power Restore

Unfortunately, HP OfficeJet Pro printers like the 8124e do not currently offer a built-in setting to disable automatic power-on when power is restored. When power is reconnected, the printer is designed to automatically turn on as part of its default behavior.

Workaround Options

While there's no direct setting to change this behavior, here are a few workarounds you might consider:

Use a Smart Plug with Power State Memory
Some smart plugs allow you to control whether the connected device powers on automatically or stays off when power is restored. You can configure the plug to keep the printer off until you manually turn it on via the smart plug app.

Manual Power Control
If you prefer not to use a smart plug, you can manually turn off the printer using the Power button before switching off the outlet. This may reduce the likelihood of it powering on automatically, though it’s not guaranteed.

Firmware Settings (if available)
Occasionally, HP releases firmware updates that add new features or settings. It's worth checking if your printer has the latest firmware:

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
