Print anywere from a remote computer, only by email?

I have a situation with a Mac OS x  remote client, and a local officejet pro 6978 which has web services / print anywhere working.  I am isolated at home and remote controlling the office Mac.

I find it hard to believe, however, that I have to send an email from my remote mac for each document I want to print from the Mac. 

I have a co-worker in a similar situation, but they have an Epson printer and have managed to set it up so they just print, and choose the (remote) Epson printer on their workstation.

Does HP have nothing like this with HP Smart, etc?

You may use the HP ePrint service. HP ePrint is a secure cloud-based service that lets you print from anywhere with an active Internet connection. Email the document or photo you want to print directly to the printer.

So the answer, then, is that HP has nothing like I described (the Epson remote print), is that so? 

In other words I can only print by sending an email attachment to the appropriate address, yes?

Yes, the only option to print remotely is using the HP ePrint option. Or, you will have to be connected to the same network remotely and then you will be able to print to the printer.
