Hi @ThomasSpain,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you are encountering an issue with scanning on your HP ENVY 6022e printer, specifically getting an error message mentioning "GIGABYTE B250M - D2V not supported." This error typically indicates a compatibility issue between the scanning software or drivers and your computer's motherboard model. Here are steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
1. Restart Your Devices
- Restart Printer and Computer:
- Turn off your HP ENVY 6022e printer and disconnect the power cord.Shut down your computer completely.
- Wait for a few minutes.Reconnect the printer's power cord and turn it back on.Restart your computer.
2. Check Connections and Settings
Verify USB Connection (if applicable):
- If you are using a USB connection between the printer and computer, ensure it is securely connected at both ends (printer and computer).
Ensure Network Connectivity (if applicable):
- If using a network connection (Wi-Fi), ensure both the printer and computer are connected to the same network.
- Check the Wi-Fi settings on the printer's control panel to confirm it is connected to the correct network.
3. Update Printer Drivers
- Check for Driver Updates:
- Visit the HP Support website and enter your printer model (ENVY 6022e).Download and install the latest drivers and software available for your printer.Ensure to install any firmware updates as well, as these can include fixes for scanning and connectivity issues.
4. Reinstall Scanner Software
- On your computer, uninstall the HP scanning software that you currently have installed. This can typically be done through the Control Panel (Windows) or Applications folder (macOS).
- Visit the HP Support website and download the latest version of the HP Easy Scan or HP Smart app (depending on your operating system).
- Follow the installation instructions to reinstall the scanning software.
5. Check System Compatibility
- Ensure that your computer's operating system is compatible with the scanning software and drivers provided by HP.
- Check for any updates or patches for your operating system that might address compatibility issues.
6. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility from the HP Support website.
- This tool can automatically diagnose and resolve scanning issues with your HP printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Rachael571, thank you for your thorough response, tried all that but still no go. Downloaded, from the HP site, both the 'HP scan assistant' and the 'HP scan' app. The Can Assistant takes me to the HP scan app anyway but.....can scan using HP scan app so I can at least complete my task and will use it in future. Strange that the HP Smart app doesn't work - can use it for everything else but not to scan?
