Just bought a new HP OfficeJet Pro 8130e printer for our old desktop computer but I can't seem to get the desktop to recognize

the printer. I have a feeling this has to do with the driver installation. I clicked on "Add a printer" and then went to the USB port since I have a cable from the desktop to the back of the printer.  When I selected "Windows Update" for the drivers my model printer doesn't show up.  Any suggestions?

Try these steps:

Install Driver from HP's Official Website

Download and Install:

Use HP Support Assistant

Open HP Support Assistant:

  • Click Start > All Programs > HP > HP Support Assistant.

Check for Updates:

  • In HP Support Assistant, click the "Maintenance" button, then "Update" to check for the latest drivers and updates. Apply the suggested updates.

Use Windows Update for Drivers

  1. Install Driver via Windows Device Manager:
    • Press Win + X and select "Device Manager."
    • Locate your printer under "Other devices," right-click it, and select "Update Driver Software."
    • Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software."

I hope this helps.
