Hello.

 

Since updating the firmware on this device to the 20201021 update, the printer now perpetually displays a "hp 79 service error" and perpetually restarts itself while it's connected to our wifi. The display panel is only available for about a minute before the error message is displayed and the printer restarts itself again. I've tried a settings reset through Setup - Restore Defaults, and it hasn't helped at all. After googling a while it seems a firmware downgrade isn't an option. I found that disconnecting the printer from the internet prevents it from restarting, but this isn't a viable solution, as we need wireless printing from different rooms to facilitate working from home.  I'm not sure what to do at this point. Can anyone assist?

@ejeff, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

We will have to downgrade the printer firmware to resolve this issue.

 

I have sent you a private message with a set of instructions to perform a reset. Kindly check the same, this might help you to resolve this issue. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
