Hi @Bey3,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To resolve the issue of your HP Smart Tank 7602 printer being stuck on "The HP software is setting up your printer," you can follow these steps:

Turn Off and Unplug:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in and restarting the printer.

Check Connections:

  • Ensure all cables are securely connected.
  • If using a USB connection, try a different USB port on the computer.
  • If using WiFi, ensure the network is stable and the printer is within range.

Update Firmware:

  • Go to the HP support website and check if there is a firmware update available for your printer model. If you can access another device, download the firmware update and follow the instructions to update your printer's firmware.

Reinstall Software:

  • On your computer, uninstall the HP software.
  • Go to the HP Software and Driver Downloads page and download the latest version of the printer software.
  • Reinstall the software and follow the setup instructions.

Printer Reset:

  • To perform a hard reset, turn off the printer, unplug the power cord, then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord, turn on the printer, and try setting it up again.

Access Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • If your printer is stuck but connected to a network, you might still access the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
  • Find the printer’s IP address on the network router’s device list.
  • Enter the IP address in a web browser to access the EWS and check for any error messages or perform diagnostics.

I hope this helps.
