HP Smart App

Have downloaded the HP Smart, but the app fails to find my printer. I have tried the option to add it using its IP address but it says not found.  I am using USB connection not WIFI wireless.  Have previously installed and it was working until used print to save as PDF and forgot to reset and after an auto restart the printer was offline.

                    Hello MikeD26,

You did not write the name of your printer on your help request.

You must uninstall the old driver and install the new full HP driver according to the procedure described :

The problem comes from the driver that is installed.

Download and install it by applying the uninstallation procedure, which I suggest.

Download your printer driver from the HP website

Download and install the driver from the HP site by following the procedure:

Procédure

I haven't written to turn on the printer yet, so it's off.

Uninstall the old driver in Control Panel, in "Programs and Features", then remove

all occurrences in "Program" and "X86 Program", in Control Panel, right click on your old printer (If it is still there, chances are that it is no longer there) "Remove", if it is present.

Restart the PC. At the end of the startup, connect the printer to the mains, connect a USB cord on the PC side, on the printer you will connect it during the installation ONLY when asked.

Start installing your printer, by right-clicking on the Setup. EXE of the downloaded driver, click ''installed'' en

as administrator'', let the installation take place, at the end, restart the PC.

To create a shortcut on the Windows desktop, open Control Panel, right-click on your

new printer, create shortcut, on the desktop, yes.

A new shortcut has been created on the Windows desktop.

Turn on your printer, print a test page, by clicking on the new shortcut created.

That's it, your printer is working again.

with this method, my printer has been working for 7 years without problems.

                                    Excellent Day.

Thank you Bernard42 for your detailed response.  My Printer is a HP Deskjet 3630 3 in one printer.

Sorry I didn't mention the specific printer I was using.   Being a non tech person I had previously thought it didn't mater about the printer I was using as the HP Smart App mentions having a driver within it when you install the app.

I later noticed my printer status under Devices and Printers within the Control Panel was indicaing Driver unavailable for the HP 3630 printer.  As such I did as you also later confirmed to do and uninstalled and then installed the printer again.  After then restarting my laptop, the printer within my HP Smart App then indicated Ready and the scanner became available again.  Before that I had been more than half a day and didn't look like I was going to get anywhere, which is why I reached out to the HP Support Community.

Anyway, thanks again much appreciated
