I clicked Apple logo, then System Preferences, then Printers and Scanners and the screen showed "No printers are available", then I clicked + to add a printer. Next screen showed two different printers, my old HP 8600 and my new HP Envy 7858 each with multiple choices. Next, regardless of which one I picked I got this message, "An error occured while trying to add the selected device. Bad file descriptor." So I am unable to print from my mac. However, I can print from my iPhone or iPad to either printer. How can this be resolved?

If you have not already, download HP Easy Start.
Once downloaded open HP Easy Start and select the HP Easy Start Menu.
In the menu select Uninstall HP Software.
Follow the steps to uninstall all the HP Software.
Re-Open HP Easy Start and run through it to install the software for your Envy 7858. This will make sure you have all the latest software for your devices and all oldre software is removed.
