HP Color Laser MFP 179fwg

I have a  HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw which is stuck on a loop, restarting at the initialise phase.

I have read other posts with people having the same problem.

I have turned the printer off, disconnected the power cord from both the printer and the wall for a long time, and the same thing keeps happening.

How do I perform a hard reset of this printer?  If that doesn't work I will have to return it.

Thanks.

Hi @marcverbinnen,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

To factory reset the MFP 179fnw, please follow these steps.

  1. Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
  2. Press and hold the cancel button and wireless button simultaneously.
  3. While still holding the buttons, turn on the printer by pressing the power button.
  4. Keep holding the buttons until the printer display screen shows "Permanent Storage Init".
  5. Release the buttons, and the printer will perform a factory reset.

Note that this process will erase all user data and settings on the printer, so you will need to reconfigure the printer settings once the reset is complete.

I hope this helps.
