I installed a new router - Netgear AX1800. All other devices connect fine. When I use the WFI setup on the printer screen, select the network and enter the password, I continue receiving an error message that the password is incorrect. It is not. I have also tried using the WPS button on the router. It searches but comes back unable to connect. I have tried everything I know to do. Any ideas?

@Joe_Saturday60, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Follow the steps below to reset the network settings and try again-

  1. From the home screen of your printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon

  2. Touch the Setup icon

  3. Touch Restore Network Defaults or Restore Network Settings, and then touch Yes to confirm your selection.

  4. After the default network settings are restored, touch the back arrow, touch Wireless Settings, and then touch Wireless Setup Wizard.

The printer searches for available networks.

  5. Touch the name of your wireless network.

  6. If your wireless network does not display in the list of wireless networks, touch Enter New Network Name, and then type the name of your wireless network.

    note:

Type the exact network name, including any uppercase and lowercase letters.

  7. Type the WEP or WPA key (network password), and then touch Done.

If you do not know your network password, go to Find Your Wireless WEP, WPA, WPA2 Password.

Once the printer connects to the wireless network, the blue Wireless light on the control panel turns on solid.

Refer to the document HP Printers - No Connection after Router or Wi-Fi Settings Change for help. If the issue persists, try changing the wireless password for your router and try again.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Still getting the same error message:

Connection Failed

Invalid wireless password

Touch print to print a report

Touch ok to restore previous network settings

I am entering the password correctly. It is the same password used to connect my other devices.

Thanks for replying.

What type of encryption are you using on your router? Is this a WPA or WPA2 password?

Also, the printer will only connect to a 2.4 GHz network. Hence make sure the router network mode is set to 2.4 GHz.

If the issue persists, we can try a complete reset on the printer. The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.

Hope this helps!

The partial reset did not work. I have  2.4 and 5 GHz networks. I am attempting to connect to the 2.4. My security method is WPA2.
