I have some PCL 5 format files that need to be printed directly on the printer. Is it possible to print those files directly on the HP8600 laser printer say from the command line?

Is a PCL driver required? I am running on Windows 11 64-bit using the latest available driver version 9.84.0.1189 (Driver Type: Type 3 - User Mode).

Regards,

Paul

Most inkjet printers operate on PCL3 language not PCL5 or 6. Have you tried printing them? I would suggest that you could try the HP Smart Universal Printer Driver or setup your printer for Eprint and email the documents to the printer, depending on the format of course.

I tried the universal driver. When I printed a test page it did not work. It printed out pages and pages of random characters. Is there something I have to do to indicate the model printer I am using in the driver? I could not find a setting.

I will try EPrint next.
