I cannot register my HP Smart Tank 790 on myHP app without providing location information. I use my corporate PC and has restrictions providing location information. How can I register the printer without providing location information?

You will need to setup the printer manually using the console or the EWS method

Since your HP Smart Tank 790 features a built-in touchscreen control panel, you can easily set it up, connect it to the network, and get it working on your corporate PC without using the app.[ref_1]

Method 1: Connect via the Printer Touchscreen & Windows (Recommended)

You can link the printer to your corporate Wi-Fi directly from its screen, allowing Windows to find it natively:[ref_1]

  • On the printer touchscreen: If the screen says "Download HP Smart App," tap the "?" (Question Mark) button to skip it and enter the main menu.[ref_1]
  • Navigate to Menu > Settings > Network > Wi-Fi.[ref_1]
  • Select Wi-Fi Setup, choose your office or home network, and enter the password. The light will turn solid blue once connected.[ref_1]
  • On your corporate PC: Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.[ref_1]
  • Click Add device. Windows will scan your network and find your printer without needing any location services.[ref_1, ref_2]

Method 2: Install via the Web-Based Portal

If you need to complete registration or if the Windows discovery tool fails, you can skip the HP App or Smart by using a browser:[ref_1]

  • Look for the option to download the "Full Feature Driver" or "HP Easy Start Software" instead of the Microsoft Store app.[ref_1, ref_2]
  • Run the installer. When asked how you want to connect, choose Network/Wireless (if already connected via the touchscreen) or USB cable.[ref_1]

Method 3: Use the Printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS)

To check the registration status or update cloud settings without an app:

  • Find your printer's IP Address from the network settings on its touchscreen.
  • Type that IP address directly into the address bar of a web browser (e.g., 192.168.1.50).
  • Log in using the Printer PIN (found on a sticker inside the front ink access door). From this web page, you can manage all registration settings directly.[ref_1, ref_2, ref_3]
