Hello, I have the same issue after upgrading but cannot get HP Smart to show up in my Local Network permissions list. I've done the following:

- Restart computer

- Restart printer

- Delete and reinstall HP Smart
- Delete and reinstall printer (could only using IP address as generic Postscript printer and did not work properly)

- HP Smart is enabled for both Bluetooth and Full Disk Access

I'm on Sequoia 15.0.1.

Hi @julie301

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

1. Enable Local Network Permissions Manually

  • The issue may arise because HP Smart isn't getting proper Local Network permissions, which are crucial for printer communication.
  • Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network.
  • Ensure that HP Smart is listed and enabled under the Local Network access section. If not listed, try reinstalling the app and check again.
  • If there is no Local Network section, reset Network Preferences by restarting your router and reconnecting to Wi-Fi.

2. Allow Full Disk Access and Bluetooth Permissions

  • Ensure HP Smart has all the necessary permissions to operate:
    1. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security.
    2. Scroll to Full Disk Access and Bluetooth. Make sure HP Smart is enabled in both sections.
  • After ensuring all relevant permissions are granted, restart your Mac and try reopening the app.

3. Reinstall the HP Smart App

  • If the app still does not open after verifying permissions, try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Smart app.
    • Uninstall the HP Smart app by moving it to the trash.
    • Go to the HP Smart App page and download the latest version that is compatible with macOS 15.0 Sequoia. Reinstall the app and allow the necessary permissions when prompted.

4. Reset Printer System

  • Sometimes resetting the printer system on macOS can resolve connectivity issues.
    1. Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
    2. Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and choose Reset printing system. This removes all printers.
    3. Re-add your printer using HP Smart or Printers & Scanners once it’s reset.

5. Check for macOS and HP Software Updates

  • Ensure that your macOS 15.0 Sequoia and HP Smart are fully up to date. Sometimes issues arise due to software compatibility bugs that are resolved with updates.
    • Go to System Settings > Software Update and make sure your macOS is fully updated.
    • Check the HP Support website for any recent patches or updates specific to your printer model.

After completing these steps, your HP Smart app should be able to communicate properly with your printer on macOS 15.0 Sequoia. If you still experience issues, I recommend you contact the phone support.
