Product: HP DeskJet Plus 4120 All-in-One Printer
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a vague recollection of being able to see the status of a printer remotely.  It may be a false memory.

 

I would like to be check ink levels remotely (and do more if possible).

 

Am I imagining it all?

If you type the IP address of the printer into a web browser you can access the Embedded Web Server of the printer. This of course assumes your printer is network attached.

But I am remote from the local network. HP knows how to contact the printer though as print jobs get directed to it via the hpeprint service and that can't be done via dynamic IP addressing, so I was hoping to piggy-back of that route.
