Hi,
The latest print drivers for Mac OS X were available for 10.10.
You may try installing below drivers and check if that may work:

Hello again, ShlomiL.
I'm embarrassed to report that I've solved my driver problem.
I had disconnected the USB cable from the printer. The printer is located in a really awkward location under a desk in an alcove. I've been suffering from some knee problems so getting in and checking everything in detail was problematic. When I removed the cable from the printer I did take note of the orientation of the USB connector, and made sure I put it back with the same orientation. However, as my cry for help indicates, I could not get the printer or various re-installations of the driver to work. I tried connecting it to different USB sockets on my iMac and USB hubs without success. I also disconnected and reconnected the printer cable at the printer, just in case.
Today I decided I'd try a different cable, although I was confident my existing cable was not damaged. The replacement cable made no difference, but when removing it from the printer I noticed a socket below the USB socket. It was difficult to spot from the angle of access I had. The printer is reasonably old so I'd forgotten that it might have an ethernet socket. I'd never used it and had just used USB and WiFi. I decided to try a network cable in that socket but couldn't get it to locate properly in that empty socket. Eventually I got down on hands and knees and pulled the printer out only to discover the labelling on that socket was for USB! I had been putting my USB cable into the Ethernet socket, and it happily went in and out repeatedly and seemed a snug fit. Used the correct socket and my printer showed up in System Preferences and worked immediately.
Embarrassing lesson learned, but thanks again for your help.
