HP ENVY Photo 6230 All-in-One Printer

The printer is extremely slow. If I print directly via wifi direct or through the router, it takes 5 minutes per page. The same if I try to photocopy. I have reset the configuration, cleaned the printheads, and nothing. I can't solve the problem. I have tried another computer with a different operating system (I use a Mac).

What should I do? Thanks

Hi @DiegoLHBN,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer is running extremely slowly, here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:

1. Check Wi-Fi Signal Strength:

  • Ensure that your printer is within a good range of your router. A weak signal can significantly affect print speeds.

2. Use a Wired Connection:

  • If possible, connect the printer directly to your router using an Ethernet cable. This can help rule out Wi-Fi issues and provide a more stable connection.

3. Reduce Print Quality Settings:

  • In your printer settings on your Mac, try lowering the print quality. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > select your printer > Options & Supplies > Driver. Adjust settings to draft or lower quality to see if it speeds up the printing.

4. Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed for your printer model. Check the HP website for the latest drivers specific to macOS.

5. Check for Background Processes:

  • Make sure there are no other large print jobs or processes running on your Mac that could be affecting print speeds.

6. Print Directly from HP Software:

  • Instead of printing through a browser or another application, try using the HP Smart app or any dedicated HP software for printing to see if it improves speed.

7. Perform a Printer Reset:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for about 5 minutes. Then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear any temporary glitches.

8. Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve performance issues. Check for updates via the HP Smart app or the HP Support website.

9. Review Printer Settings:

  • Check your printer settings to see if there are any energy-saving modes enabled that might be slowing down performance.

10. Factory Reset the Printer:

  • As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on the printer. Refer to the user manual for specific instructions on how to do this.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
