HP Smart Tank 678 All-in-One
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I am trying to set up my new Smart Tank Printer.

I followed the instructions and filled the ink tanks with the provided bottles.

the screen keeps blinking that “K” is empty when it has a full bottle of ink in it.

At the suggestion of a customer service agent, I reset the printer multiple times and ran the diagnostic doc app, which keeps telling me there’s no ink in the black tank.

I can’t even get to the step of putting in the print heads because it won’t acknowledge the ink in the tank. The cartridge will not move to the center.

What can I try next?

They did eventually make this right by doing an exchange for a working printer.

The ink tank IS full. The sensor seems to be broken. I was on the phone with support for 1.5 hours yesterday and they were unable to fix the issue and also unable to give me an answer on getting a replacement printer. I now have a $366 brick.

Mavis was lovely and as helpful as she could be. Hoping someone can get me authorization for a replacement ASAP.

Did you get any help? I’m having the exact same issue with my new printer! It’s so frustrating

I have not gotten any help, despite being on the phone for 4+ hours, having chatted with three agents, and having been passed off to multiple agents who pass me off to yet another phone number and email address.

I bought my printer on HP.com, which I will never do again, because I have yet to get the authorization to exchange it for a working item after HOURS invested in trying to troubleshoot or reach any customer service person who can actually help me.

this is without a doubt the worst purchase I’ve ever made and if I hadn’t bought it on my company’s credit card, I would just send it back and take the 15% restocking fee to be rid of it.
