HP Photosmart C309a

I'm having trouble printing off my C309a printer from my MacBook, which is operating the new macOS Big Sur. It seems there are no software/drivers for this OS. How can I get around this? Will there be an update coming?

Same here. I've tried almost all downloadable driver, old drivers, softwares like HP Smart, HP Easy Admin, HP Easy Start. None of them work. I've even managed to dig deep inside these installer packages to try to manually trigger them to install. Still, nothing works so far.

 

The only way I came up with is whenever I need to print something, because of the way I stored all my documents in iCloud, I just go to Files on my ipad pro and print them via HP Smart on my ipad (yes the 309g is still supported on HP Smart on latest ipad os).

Yes I’ve had to resort to this too. There are some documents that are tricky to print from an iPad though. I struggled a bit with printing an Amazon return label for example. I’ve asked HP directly and they’ve said that’s it for this model now - they won’t be releasing any updates for it. They’ve given me a 20% off code to purchase a new printer from them, so if you’re thinking of getting a new one then get in touch!

We need to keep pressure on HP for them to make Software and Drivers available for our printer C309 on MACOS 11.0 Big Sur.

Why should we buy a new printer because of no drivers availability ?????

Hi,

Try following below version of the HP Easy Start Utility:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/ASU/HP_Easy_St...

 

As soon as you open HP Easy Start, click the top HP Easy Start menu and select Uninstall HP Software...
Read any warnings that display, and then click Continue. When prompted, type your administrator user name and password and follow the steps on screen.
Click Set Up New Device, and then follow the instructions to reinstall your printer with HP Easy Start and check if that may work.

 

If HP Easy Start cannot complete your printer installation, from the HP Easy Start menu select Preferences.
Click on HP Easy Start.log and the log folder will launch, please reply me back via a Private Message with the log content attached, please clarify if you may not able to access private messaging.

No good. Still get the same message that there is no driver for MAC OS Big Sur. Very unhappy about this as I've just bought some new ink cartridges for it. 😡
