Hi @Irna1,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting the "Supply Memory Error" on your HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175a indicates that the printer is unable to detect one or more of the toner cartridges correctly. Here’s how you can troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn off the printer.
- Disconnect the power cord from the printer and wait for 1-2 minutes.
- Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.
2. Inspect the Toner Cartridges
- Open the toner access door.
- Remove all the toner cartridges carefully.
- Inspect the gold-colored metal contacts on each cartridge for dirt, dust, or damage.
- Clean the contacts gently with a soft, lint-free cloth and some isopropyl alcohol.
- Check for any protective tape or packaging that may not have been fully removed.
- Reinsert the cartridges firmly into their slots until they click into place.
3. Check for Compatible and Genuine Cartridges
- Ensure you are using genuine HP toner cartridges. Third-party or refilled cartridges can sometimes cause memory errors.
- If the cartridges are compatible, try replacing the one that might be causing the issue.
4. Inspect the Printer Cartridge Slot
- Check the toner cartridge slots for any debris, damage, or misalignment.
- Use a flashlight to inspect the area where the toner cartridge contacts connect to the printer's internal circuits.
5. Perform a Firmware Update Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Outdated firmware can sometimes misinterpret cartridge data.
- Download the latest firmware for the HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175a from HP's official website.
- Follow the instructions to update the printer firmware.
6. Perform a Cold Reset (Factory Reset)
- Note: This will reset the printer to its factory default settings, including network settings.
- Turn off the printer.
- Press and hold the "OK" button and turn the printer back on.
- Release the button when you see "Cold Reset" or a similar message.
7. Replace the Toner Cartridge Memory Chip
- If cleaning doesn't help, the memory chip on the toner cartridge might be damaged.
- Replace the faulty toner cartridge with a new one.
