Hi @Phil-Nyon,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Fix False Carriage Jam and Paper Jam Errors!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in.
- Turn the printer back on and see if the error persists.
Reset the Printer:
- Sometimes resetting the printer can clear error states.
- Disconnect all cables, including power and USB.
- Leave the printer disconnected for a couple of minutes, then reconnect the power cable and turn it back on.
Check for Obstructions:
- Open the printer's front door and access the print carriage area.
- Make sure there are no tiny pieces of paper or other obstructions.
- Move the carriage manually from left to right to ensure smooth movement.
Software and Drivers Update:
- Ensure your printer drivers and software are up-to-date. Visit the HP Support website to download the latest drivers for your model.
- Sometimes incorrect or outdated drivers can lead to error messages.
Check the Paper Tray and Feeder:
- Ensure paper is correctly loaded in the tray; stack paper neatly to avoid any misfeeding.
- Check for any small obstructions in the paper feed path.
Run a Printer Diagnostic:
- Use HP's Print & Scan Doctor tool, which can help diagnose and fix common issues with your printer.
- You can download this utility from the HP website.
Perform a Printhead Alignment:
- From the printer menu, navigate to settings or tools, and look for the option to align printheads.
- This can sometimes reset internal printer sensors.
Manual Error Reset:
- Attempt to clear the error through manual reset by simultaneously pressing certain buttons on the control panel.
- Check your printer's manual for specific reset instructions.
I hope this helps.
