HP Envy 7900

I have a enveloppe size of 12cm x 19 cm. I have set up the page in Word, and I am trying to print a mail merge. However, on the HP menu, for the paper size, there are only fixed sizes, and thus, when I load my enveloppes and try to print.. I get an paper size mismatch and the printing job gets cancelled... How can I go round this issue?

Hi @Legaulois ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're facing paper size mismatch issues while trying to print on custom-sized envelopes with your HP Envy 7900, you can try the following steps to work around the problem:

Printer Settings:

  • Open the HP printer software on your computer.
  • Look for the "Printer Preferences" or "Properties" option.
  • Navigate to the "Paper/Quality" tab.

Custom Paper Size:

  • Check if there is an option for "Custom" or "User-Defined" paper size.
  • If available, select this option.

Enter Custom Size:

  • Once you've selected the custom size option, enter the dimensions of your envelope (12cm x 19cm).

Word Document Settings:

  • In your Word document, ensure that the page size matches the custom size you set in the printer settings.
  • Go to the "Layout" or "Page Layout" tab in Word and confirm the page size.

Print Settings in Word:

  • Before sending the print job, check the print settings within Word.
  • Ensure that the paper size selected in Word matches the custom size you set in both the printer settings and the Word document.

Print Preview:

  • Use the "Print Preview" option in Word to see how the document will look on the custom-sized envelope. Adjust settings if necessary.

Print in Batches:

  • If your printer has difficulty handling custom-sized envelopes, try printing in smaller batches rather than a large mail merge.

Manual Feed Slot:

  • Some printers have a manual feed slot that allows you to feed individual envelopes directly. Check your printer manual to see if this is an option.

Printer Firmware Update:

  • Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-

Hello,

thank you.

Inntbe Sofware it is possible to setup the special paper size.

Unfortunately the printer doesn’t allow you to set a special size paper. It is limited to fixed options. And if you do insert the special paper size and leave the printer on default settings, the printer goes into error.

i managed to print by selecting a slightly larger paper size but which wasn’t too far off for the printer to lot to in error. Fiddling with the space and positions I managed to make an OK job. But what an ordeal .
