Hi there,
I own a HP LaserJet M236dw printer. I bought it for office use and my job requires me to print out cheques and payment vouchers on a daily basis. Now, my issue is the amount of tray available for this printer, which is only 1 tray. This printer is a multi functional printer, meaning it prints, scans and photocopies documents. I generally use an A5 size paper for payment vouchers and the cheque sizes varies from one bank to another bank.
I have been trying to change the ADF feeder into a printing feeder that way I can put the A5 papers in the ADF feeder and put in a bulk of cheques into the usual tray 1. This will make it easy for me to print payment vouchers and cheques with ease and without constantly resizing the tray according to the A5 or cheque size.
Unfortunately, I am unable to change the ADF feeder into a printing feeder or maybe I wasn't doing it right or I just do not have the options to change it like that. Im clueless now so any help or suggestion would be appreciated.

Hello BLPSVB,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Print requests usually select the required tray using a combination of Paper Size and Paper Type (with tray selection set to Printer Auto-Select ), rather than selecting a specific tray via its identifier.
Configure the printer so that it knows there are different Paper Types in the different 'sets' of trays.
For example, type = Letterhead for tray 2 , and type = Plain for trays 3 and 4 .

Take care of yourself and have a good day.

Hi Bernard, thanks for replying. Although I do have an ADF and a usual printer tray, in the setting I can only choose one tray that is 'Tray 1' and another option saying "Manual feed' but no matter how I change the tray setting to manual feed, it still only pulls paper from Tray one. Is there anything else I can try???
