Envy 4520 printer; Windows 10 (64 bit).
Printer is a few months old and running fine. I saw there was an updated driver and software package for this model and decided to update to this latest version, (40.11). The problem I'm having is now I am unable to access the Set Preferences tab when I open the software on my laptop. I always run my printer in draft mode to save ink. But with this latest update I'm not able to do so. I have uninstalled the new driver and reinstalled it, but still I'm unable to set preferences. When I try and click on that tab nothing happens. All other tabs in this new software package work. Any suggestions? Can I go back to the previous driver which worked fine?

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP Envy 4520 Printer. I understand that you are unable to print in draft mode and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.
Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well.
-
In the software application you are trying to print from, click File, and then click Print.
The Print window opens.
-
Open the Properties dialog box.
Depending on the software application, the button might be Properties, Options, Printer Setup, Printer, or Preferences.
-
Depending on your print job, you might consider modifying the following settings:
-
Paper Type: If you are printing on photo paper, select the type of photo paper you are attempting to print on.
-
Print Quality: If you are dissatisfied with the quality of your printouts, increase the print quality. To print more quickly, decrease the print quality. These options typically include Best, Normal, and Draft modes.
-
- After selecting the print settings, click OK to apply the settings, and then click Print.
Let me know how it goes.
Cheers.

Followed your instructions using MS Word. I received the following error message:
Function address 0xa1759e08 caused a fault protection. (exception code 0xe06d7363)
The application property sheet page(s) may not function properly.
Color me stumped. Any ideas what that means? Thank you.

I am running a dual boot Windows 10 - one 32 Bit and one 64 Bit. The HP 4520 ENVY prints in color in the 32 Bit system, but not in the 64 Bit system. When I attempt to set preferences to color in the 64 Bit system I receive the same error (protection fault exception code Oxe06D7363) as mentioned in the previous post.
