HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP M430f Monochrome Laser Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

Hi Folks,

I've attempted to set up a new HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP M430f Monochrome Laser Printer for a member of my department.  I'm able to install the printer using the driver pulled from the HP Easy Admin utility.   It's defaulting to using the AirPrint protocol, which isn't supported by our University network infrastructure.

Swapping to USB in CUPS solves the problem so I can use it to print, but it doesn't show any ability to scan.  I've confirmed it's pointed at the correct driver I installed.

The problem persists on multiple Macs I've plugged it in to.  Two running 12.6.1 Monterey, and another running 13.1 Ventura.  Any idea what I can do to resolve the issue with it only being recognized as a printer?

Thanks!

An enterprise device is not intended to scan using software from a computer. Enterprise printers have advanced scanning features scan to email, scan to network folder, scan to FTP.

This is a small desk MFP that has software to use with a local endpoint via USB.  It has the ability to scan when using AirPrint, but not when plugged in via USB.  AirPrint is not supported in our environment and there are not network ports in this person's office to allow for it to be setup over ethernet.
