I have just changed my wireless router and cannot get my printer to recognise the new router.
When trying a reinstall with the disc supplied with the printer it keeps 'quitting unexpectedly' at the end of the install but before I get to connect the printer.
The disc indicates it is for use with Mac OS X v10.4; 10.5 but I cannot find a more up-to-date option on the HP web-site despite it indicating that my printer is still supported.
I can still use the printer with a directly connected USB cable to my desk-top but this is no help for the other devices I have.

Hi @Paulwrow,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're unable to connect your HP Photosmart Wireless B109n-z wirelessly to your new router. I would be happy to look into this with you and please remember to return to this thread and mark 'Accept as Solution', if I have successfully helped you resolve the issue. If you wish to say 'thanks' for my effort to help, click the 'thumbs up' to give me a Kudos.
The Software CD/DVD will not work with newer versions of Mac OS X. HP doesn't have drivers for this printer in Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan. The last driver released for this printer was for Mac OS X 10.6. The only driver available is using this the Apple Update Driver. This will cause a problem when reconfiguring the wireless, as it is software assisted. It would be easier if you had another computer running a supported operation system so that you can install the Full Feature Software to configure the wireless.
As an alternative method, you could try using these steps as a guideline to connect the printer wirelessly. We will use the ad hoc connection. With the ad hoc connection, you can launch the embedded web server (EWS) to gain access to the wireless setup wizard.
Use these steps as a guideline:
Restore network defaults:
- Press button next to Wireless Menu.
- Press button next to Wireless Settings.
- Press button next to Restore Network Defaults.
Once the network is reset, the printer should be broadcasting the ad hoc connection. It should look like "hpsetup" or "HP Setup (and part of the printer name or MAC address)". With an IP address like 169.82.12.44.
Next, connect to the printer's network it is broadcasting.
- On the Mac in the upper-right corner, click on the Wireless icon and connect to the "hpsetup" or "HP Setup" network.
Print the wireless test report:
- Press button next to Scan.
- Press button next to Wireless Menu.
- Press button next to Wireless Settings.
- Press button next to Run Wireless Network Test.
Look on the wireless test report for the printer's IPV4 (IP address) 169.82.12.44.
- Launch your internet browser and enter the IP address as shown. This should load the printer's EWS.
- Click on the Network tab across the top.
- On the left-hand side, click on Wireless or Network.
- Run the Wireless Setup Wizard.
This is the only way to reconfigure the wireless unless you have a different computer which has supported software.
For more information on the ad hoc connection, see the Users Guide.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you. Good Luck!

Hi Drakster,
Thanks for offering your help.
I operate two apple mac desk tops with the latest OS installed and an Ipad.
Although I also have an ancient laptop running Windows Vista this is now unused so I opted to try your alternative method.
Unfortunately after getting the IP address from the Wireless test report and entering the IP address in my browser (Safari) the message 'unable to find the server' results so I dont get the EWS download and cannot complete the last 3 steps of the process you describe.
Do I take the last sentence of your second paragraph to mean that I can set the printer up from any computer such as the one running windows even though I will be using apple machines for day to day printing?

Hi Drakster,
Thanks very much for your help.
I have cranked the old windows vista lap top into life and run the HP install disk with no problems all now working fine.
Good job I never got round to binning the old machine! Thank you again.
