I am trying to print an 8" X 10" borderless picture. The print quality is very good, but the picture comes out about 6" x 8 3/4".
My HP Smart App says it is up to date as does my computer. Why can't I print an 8"x10" borderless picture?

@Shelby4,
Thank you for your response, I really appreciate your efforts.
Please try the below steps:
Check out this screenshot. The printer may be different but the driver options are pretty much the same. You have to select the 'Paper Type/Quality' selection in the middle of the dialog.
Hopefully, you have that in your print dialog. If not, you may have the Apple AirPrint driver installed rather than the HP print driver.
If you have that print borderless selection then make sure to check the Print Borderless checkbox.

Hi @Shelby4,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY 5055 All-In-One Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
- Are you using genuine HP ink cartridges?
- Does the copy print out the same way?
- What's the application you are trying to print from?
- Have you tried printing from a different application or device?
While you respond to that, let's print a Print Quality Diagnostic page -Post the Print Quality Diagnostic page here so we can help you further.
You may also refer to this document with steps to fix the " Print Quality Issues" issue applicable to your printer - Print Quality Issues
Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
if the issue persists, then please follow the below steps:
Printing guidelines
Use the printing guidelines below for the best printing results.
For high-quality results, use a photo print cartridge in combination with the tri-color print cartridge.
For maximum fade resistance, use HP Premium Plus Photo Paper and install a photo print cartridge in the printer.
Use HP Everyday Photo Paper, semi-gloss to save money and ink when printing photos.
Verify that the photo paper that you are using is flat.
Do not exceed the in-tray capacity: of up to 25 sheets.
Preparing to print
Before printing, follow the steps below:
Verify that the printer is turned on.
Remove the out tray, and then remove all of the paper from the In tray.
Slide the paper-width guide all the way to the left, and then pull out the paper-length guide.
Verify that the photo paper is flat.
Place the photo paper in the In tray with the side to be printed on facing down. If are using a photo paper that has a tear-off tab, verify that the tab is pointing away from the printer.
Slide the paper guides firmly against the paper.
Replace the out tray.
Printing
NOTE: If your software program includes a photo printing feature, follow the instructions that are provided with the software program. Otherwise, follow these instructions.
Click the Start button.
Click Settings and select Control Panel.
Click the Printers and Faxes icon.
Right-click the HP Envy xxxx Series icon and select Properties. (The printer series, either 5055 or 5000, will be in place of the x's.)
On the General tab, click Printing Preferences to open the Printing Preferences dialog box.
On the Printing Shortcuts tab, select Photo printing-borderless as the type of document, and then select the following options:
Print quality: Normal, Best, or Max dpi.
Paper size: Select the appropriate borderless photo paper size.
Paper type: Select the appropriate photo paper type.
Orientation: Portrait or Landscape.
Set the following options as appropriate:
HP digital photography options
Advanced color settings
Color management
Grayscale quality
Select any other desired print settings, and then click OK. If the image was printed on photo paper with a tear-off tab, remove the tab to make the document completely borderless.
Troubleshooting
Small margins in MS Word
When printing borderless images from MS Word, a small margin appears.
Solution
The paper size must be set to borderless in both the application (MS Word) and the printer driver. To set borderless printing in the application, follow the steps below.
Click File, then Page Setup.
In the Page Setup dialog box, click the Paper tab.
Under Paper Size, select the appropriate borderless paper size.
To select borderless printing in the printer driver, follow the steps below.
In the application, click File, and then click Print.
In the Print dialog box, click Properties, and then click the Paper/Quality tab.
Select the appropriate borderless paper size.
NOTE: Under Paper Type, you cannot choose plain paper and print borderless. Choose photo or brochure paper instead.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hello, and thank you for your help. In answer to your questions: Yes, I use HP ink cartridges, yes the copy prints out the same way every time, I am using the HP Smart App, and that is the only application that I have used. I also have only used the Envy 5055 printer. I will start working on the print quality diagnostic.....
