HP Envy 5532

Have made the mistake of upgrading Mac Software to Monterey and now cannot print anything.

I see from previous postings that Apple's standard advice is to contact HP so I looked on the HP website and downloaded a programme called HP Smart which says it is for Monterey and deleted the old HP Utility programme that I had.

HP Smart says printer connected and when i send something to print the print queue opens up and it says  "printing - connected to printer".  However nothing prints. It just hangs there.  I have tried re-booting computer and printer, deleting wifi settings on printer and re-inputting. I have also reattached a cable between printer and Mac. All to no avail.

Would appreciate any other suggestions.

Am tempted to go out and buy another (newer) HP printer if that would cure the issue but have no confidence in HP having developed the right drivers for the Monterey OS.

I have tested the Macrumors forum solution without certificate problems and it works. The code looks logical.

Here is the link.

I would use terminal yourself rather than download any solution prepared by anyone else

Hopefully HP will follow with something soon.

Have a look at this thread - you are not alone. What printer? In the Macs we have upgraded where the printer was already installed we have been OK. Did you do a clean install?

Thank you for your comments. My printer is an HP Envy 5532 so too recent for the Gutenprint list.

I did not do a clean install - presume you think that would make a difference ?

I said about the clean install, because for work we have been running Monterey for some time (previously in beta) and we can print on that test computer (P1102W), whereas installation is blocked on the new laptops with 12.01.

I am having the same problem. When I upgraded to Monterey my old hp printer would. not print. So I bought a new printer and I. have been going back and forth with. apple. and hp. support. Basically the hp smart app is not compatible with this. new operating system and neither company is willing to admit this. Planing on returning the hp printer and trying canon
