When trying to print pdfs, the job would be displayed on my laptop, indicating "connecting to printer" then "connected to printer". On the printer's display it would indicated "documented printing". Nothing happens. At times, even that last message on the printer display would fade away, the job as such still being shown on the laptop as being processed.
Visibly, no other jobs are in the queue. Only happens to pdfs, MS Word, Powerpoint, Excel data all printed quickly.
operating system Mac Book Air mOS Catalina 10.15.2 (19C57). Adobe Reader Version updated to 2019.021.20058. Printer Proxy 15 (571). All drivers updated as available as per 26 Jan 2020. Complete printer system reset and reconnection to router already done.
Thanks for any help. Bea

Load your pdf file on a USB drive, you have USB port under printers front panel, insert the USB drive in the printer and follow on-screen instructions to print pdf file to eliminate are you having a printer or computer problem.

Hi.
Tx for your quick feedback. Your hint is a "work around solution" for this very job, but not for the matter of principle, as it happens to all of my jobs. Is it possible that - whereas there is no print job showing up on the menu - there are nevertheless print jobs in the queue which I can't see? I have previously printed a lot of big files, also 20-30 MB in one row but the printer was always ready and quick. Nowadays, not even a file of 1MB would go through. Alternatively, how can I check that the storage capacity is stuck? Also here: previously, all prints were fine.

Probably some update is making your problem, can you check will it work with an older version of Adobe (or a newer) you are probably not the first one with this issue, have you checked Adobe support maybe you can find something interested there.
