Hi:
I have a problem with HP8600 all-in-one printer CN750A, N911g, which I believe was purchased in 2014.
Upon turning on the HP8600, it stopped and now displays an error message that says something like: "there is a problem with the printer or ink system....." I turned the printer off and then back on several times. No solution yet.
When starting HP Print and Scan Doctor 5.7.3 on my Wiondows10x64 Home DELL desktop pc, I am shown an error message that says: "Missing or Failed Printhead; The printer appears to be missing, not detected, incorrectly installed, or incompatible." I have always used geniune HP ink cartridges.
I clicked on the Help button and then performed the Printhead problem steps but did not solve the problem.
Running the HP Print and Scan Doctor 5.7.3 software, the printer is found on my wired network. Clicked on "Fix Printing". In Step 2, Recommended Updates, Printer Spooler, and Drive check are passed as okay.
"Device Status" fails. Cartidge or Printhead Problem:
I click on Skip; the remaining check points with the exception of "Test Page" are passed as okay.
I have removed the printhead and cleaned the exposed contacts.

Prior to purchasing a replacement printhead I want to verify that there wasn't some Windows 10 update that might have upset things. Please guide me to uninstall the HP8600 software entirely and then instructions to download the required software/drivers.
On 12 Jun 2023 I downloaded Full_Webpack-1312_1-OJ8600_Full_Webpack.exe and presume that it is the appropriate installation package ???
In the past I have been confused by a redundant installation of a HP8600 printer; perhaps I need to verify that there is now only one printer connected via wire to the pc. Right now, Windows Settings-printer hardware properties shows under General tab:
Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)
To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer.
So, again I am confused by that
I have just now set the HP Officejet Pro 8600 (Network) as the default device.
Thank you in advance for your guidance.

Hi,
Any such error relies on the printer hardware is unlikely affected by the computer in any way,
When you try copying from the device front panel by select Copy > Copy Document > Start Color, are you able to make a color copy or getting any similar error?
Assuming any Cartridge or Printhead error returns, the problem is with the ink system only and have no relation to any software installation, I would recommend reviewing below support document to troubleshoot any such:

Hi and many thanks for your suggestion.
I am not able to do any operation from the printer panel.
It is no fun being w/o the use of the print, scan or fax functions !
I have placed an order from Amazon
and expect delivery tomorrow at a lower cost than ordering from the HP Store.
BTW, is it recommended to keep the HP8600 powered on to avoid drying out inkjets?
Also, is an automatic printhead cleaning done if the printer is powered on, or must it be given a command for a printhead cleaning to be done?
